The short answer is – not a lot! We’re still waiting for the planning application to be submitted, which gives us time to get our ducks in a row so we are ready to respond once it drops.
-> For an overview of what the Bacton tower development is, read this summary.
What’s the current timeline? According to Mount Anvil’s latest updates (from October 2025), we can expect the planning application to be submitted any time between ‘winter and spring’.

It’s hard to predict when it’s likely to happen. We’re still in winter now, and we have local elections coming up in May. We suspect Mount Anvil will either want to squeeze it in before then, or wait until the dust has settled after the May elections. So, we want to be ready for both scenarios.
What happens once the planning application has been submitted?
This will be the crucial period for residents to submit objections. Usually we will have about six weeks to do so, which is not a lot given that planning applications tend to be long and technical documents that take time to wade through.
The more people object, the higher our chance of altering, slowing down or altogether changing the outcome of the application. So we want to use this time to get as many residents lined up to submit an objection of their own as we can (we’ll be producing guidance and key points to make this as easy as possible).
How will BTA respond to the planning application?
We have engaged planning consultancy Urban Imprint to help us put together technically sound objections to the planning application that could form the basis of a legal challenge if it came to it.
Urban Imprint already did an initial overview of possible policy breaches in Mount Anvil’s proposal for us last year, which highlighted multiple areas in which the current plans don’t meet policy requirements. The consultants will be building on that research in developing a fuller list of objections.
BTA is also liaising with other campaigns, organisations and local institutions who are opposed to Mount Anvil’s development to coordinate efforts.
What can I do to help stop the Bacton towers?
There are several ways to support us in opposing this development. Not everyone can contribute in the same way, so if you are able to do just one of the things on the list below, it will already boost our capacity to mount a challenge!
- Talk to your neighbours and get them to sign up to our email list or Whatsapp group. This means we will have a larger list of residents to submit objections to the planning application, which will carry more weight.
- Make a donation to help us pay for the planning consultant’s support. We need to raise an additional £2,385 to what we have already crowdfunded to cover their fees.
- Put us in touch with any experts who would be willing to offer pro-bono support to the campaign – for example, people with links to national media or technical experts in housing, construction, heritage, planning etc.
- Keep an eye out for flyering actions and come support us at one of them if you’re able.
We will keep you posted via our email list and on our Whatsapp channel with updates.
Mount Anvil and Camden Council have made it clear how little they think this community is capable of, so let’s show them that we are united, determined and strong!
Thank you so much for your support.
